Double live album!
Grand Baton was founded in 2004 around the recording of the first album, as a project exploring a new rock music for the Caribbean. This music is fundamentally creole, in the sense that it followed the same kind of creative cultural process that forged the creole culture or the language called “creole” (in which all the songs from the first album are written)… this process took place inside myself (JC), as I grew up at the meeting point of different unrelated cultures.
So, in 2012, Grand Baton was bringing the music back to its point of origin, the island of Guadeloupe because the “ka” drum and its culture are what dictated this music. You can imagine how intense of a moment this was; it is like presenting your newborn baby for the first time to your own parents :). This recording takes you back to that moment!
